How do I make my wireless router secure?

ZyXEL wireless routers come complete with automatic security settings through the in-built firewall on the router so you can be reassured that your network will be secure from hackers.

You can also use the advanced features on the router to secure the wireless.  There are three features to look for with any wireless router which are WEP, WPA, and TKIP.

WEP offers the lowest level of security on your router, WPA is stronger and TKIP provides the highest level of security of all three.  You would only use one of these at any time, so you can decide the level of security you want to set.

ZyXEL Ethernet adapters have their own ID (imagine it being like the chassis number on your car) and this is known as a MAC address.  Your router can be set to recognise only that Ethernet Adapter so it can’t be “spoofed” i.e. someone accessing the router as you or taking over the router.
