Media streaming is a method of providing multimedia files such as audio, video and data around the home.
Streaming is done in two ways – firstly multimedia can be streamed from the Internet direct to a streaming device, this is usually done via a content provider.
Secondly, media streaming can consist of multimedia stored in a central device like a PC, laptop or storage device such as ZyXEL's Multimedia Storage Server, which can then be accessed directly by a media streaming device such as ZyXEL's DMA1000 and DMA1100.
With the introduction of PowerLine HomePlug technology it is possible to stream High-Definition movies, music and podcasts from a storage server in one room in your home directly to a media streaming device in any other room i.e. study to lounge.
