PowerLine HomePlug is a simple way of creating a home network using the electrical mains power circuit within your house.
The electricity you use in your home is supplied at 50Hz and the wires used to carry this electricity is able to carry more than just electricity. The wires can be tuned to use the unused bandwidth/capacity in order to transmit your home network connection using a PowerLine HomePlug Adapter
All you need to do is plug one PowerLine HomePlug Adapter into the wall socket and attach it via ethernet cable to a router. Then plug in another PowerLine HomePlug adapter into the socket of the room you wish to extend your network to and plug in another Ethernet device, e.g. a laptop or desktop this will enable the data to travel around your mains power.
PowerLine HomePlug can be used in one of the four ways:
1) Create a total home connectivity network – so you can share files, use several computers or laptops at one time, access the Internet from where you like in the home so you are not restricted
2) An alternative to wireless in the home – so if you are worried about the security of a wireless network, a PowerLine HomePlug network will be more secure around your own mains circuit – so there is less risk of other users accessing or sharing your network
3) An alternative to creating a wired home and having cables – you can avoid the unsightly mess created by drilling and having cables around your home
4) As a compliment to wireless technologies – so if your wireless network does not extend around your house, or you have dead spots, this will use your electrical mains to reach those areas.
